For years contemporary Danish designers lived in the shadows of modern masters like Arne Jacobsen and Hans J. Wegner. Today this has radically changed, and the national design scene is again flourishing. On our guided design tour we will show you the best of classic and contemporary Danish design, from porcelain, typography and chairs to hotels, fashion and bicycles and demonstrate how simple details can improve everyday life.
Sofas, chairs, bicycles, teapots and door handles – Design, and the craftsmanship behind it, plays an important role in Danish culture: In downtown Copenhagen we will lead the way towards renowned as well as emerging design brands, showcasing how functionality and new perspectives walk hand in hand, continuously pushing the boundaries.
On this guided Copenhagen Design Tour we will start up showing you the world’s first design hotel The Royal Radisson (former SAS hotel) designed by the functionalistic st-architect Arne Jacobsen, who also created the entire interior – now slightly changed. Further on we will see the expressive chairs of Finn Juhl and the timeless and poetic paper lamps of Le Klint as well as some of the city´s most intruiging interiors.
Our design tour will take you through green, urban cityscapes and the beautiful neighborhood of the historic parts of town – and we promise that besides a great design- and shopping experience we will tell you all we know about Copenhagen’s trendy spots, providing you with a lot of inside knowledge on cool bars, chill outs, hidden gems and smashing restaurants. The exact content of the tour might differ from tour to tour.
We recommend you to visit The Danish Design Museum for further exploration – either on your own or with one of our tour guides (then the tour duration will be 3 hours and one more hour: 600 DKK is added to the price admissions are not included).
